Seven Directions Tours Reveals New Proprietary Approach to Explain Their Continued Success in Niche Tourism

Seven Directions Tours Reveals New Proprietary Approach to Explain Their Continued Success in Niche Tourism

(PRWEB) November 22, 2011

Seven Directions Tours makes sure that every itinerary it designs follows its proprietary ACLE (Authentic, Creative, and Learning Experiences) approach. This means that each step of the program goes beyond the manufactured elements featured in tourist brochures to instead include visits and interactions with local people to live and hear the real essence and history of the place.

Niche Tourism in Seven Directions Tours’ view exactly addresses the need for a deeper connection with a place through meaningful personal experiences. This is a broader interpretation than the common one stating that it’s a branch of the industry that focuses on a variety of special interests. A comprehensive list of special interest tourisms can be found searching for adjectival tourisms in Wikipedia.

Travelers’ interests are indubitably a key element in developing niche programs, but represent only a part of the whole experience.

The world is changing, travelers’ expectations change too. Most of today’s travelers know that sustainability and minimizing the carbon footprints are key factors in selecting a trip, that authenticity is no longer an option, and that meaningful contacts with local communities are as important as traveling to awe inspiring sites. This is the premise to the guidelines of the ACLE approach.

Serious travelers also recognize that deals are seldom the best choice. By surfing the World Wide Web searching for deals one usually finds standard packages that at the end of the trip only leave a blurred memory of beaches, temples, deserts, and jungles.

Rather, increasingly travelers look for a valuable experience, a fundamental guiding concept underlying every Seven Directions Tours’ custom designed program. They are ready to invest in non fabricated experiences. Indeed a growing number of travelers are no longer passive spectators but search for inspiring engagements. A highly priced program doesn’t necessarily guarantee the trip’s value. It may offer comfort and luxury.

Among tourism’s trends for the next decade, those that appear to be featured in most marketing researches are Educational, Cultural, Eco-Tourism, Creative, and Local Travel.

Niche Tourism, as interpreted by Seven Directions Tours, seems to encompass most of these trends. It values the environment and the cultural resources of places, it provides creative, hands-on, and local experiences, and is geared to specific travelers’ interests. Most importantly, niche tourism delivers the value required by discerning travelers and offers them the quality of a genuine intimacy with the heritage, natural beauties, folklore, and food of the communities they visit.

Moreover, niche tourism is a great opportunity for destinations that are not yet among the top tourism hits to enhance their own specific attractions, including the intangible aspects, like living expressions and traditions that bring out the distinctiveness of the place. As advocated by Geotourism, it’s about building on a destination’s geographical character, emphasizing its distinctive points in a way that benefits visitors and residents alike.

“Being, not looking”, is the difference between a true experience and passive tourism, as stated by Marina Novelli in one of the chapters of her interesting book Niche Tourism, Contemporary Issues, Trends and Cases.

New York City Tour Company Introduces Daily Tours Including National 9/11 Memorial

New York City Tour Company Introduces Daily Tours Including National 9/11 Memorial

New York City Vacation Packages Announces Tours

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 17, 2011

New York City Vacation Packages (NYCVP), a tour company promoting leisure travel to New York City, announced NYC walking and sightseeing tours including entry into the new National 9/11 Memorial, opening in the City on the tenth anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks in the US.

The Memorial, set in the footprints of the original World Trade Center Twin Towers, consists of two large pools and waterfalls. The names of those whose lives were lost in the terrorist attacks of 2001 and 1993 are inscribed on the walls surrounding the pools. A grove of nearly 400 trees surrounds the Memorial, creating a peaceful urban retreat amid the massive construction project of 1 World Trade Center, which when completed will become the tallest building in the United States.

Entry into the Memorial is free but is restricted by advance reservation only and is limited so as not to overcrowd the site.

NYCVP is including timed entry into the Memorial in the three popular walking and sightseeing tours the company has conducted for many years. All tours are unique in that they depart from midtown Manhattan, close to all major hotels, and are accompanied by a licensed and experienced New York City tour guide who escorts the groups downtown via the City’s subway system. The prices for the tours remain the same – there is no additional charge for the pre-reserved entry to the Memorial.

On the WTC MEMORIAL Tour, Saturdays from 9am to noon, tour participants visit the National 9/11 Memorial first and then continue on a walking tour through Lower Manhattan where they will see such icons as Wall Street, the Woolworth Building, Trinity Church and a virtual museum of historical skyscrapers. The tour also views the Bronze FDNY 9-11 Memorial Wall and the NYC Police Memorial at the World Financial Center.

The FREEDOM Comprehensive Tour incorporates a walking tour of the Ground Zero area, entry into the National 9/11 Memorial and a visit to the Statue of Liberty. After a pre-reserved entry into the National 9/11 Memorial, guests take part in a narrated and guided stroll through Lower Manhattan including the remarkable memorials to the police and firefighters. Proceeding down lower Broadway, Wall Street and Bowling Green, the tour boards the Statue of Liberty Ferry in Battery Park. Tour goers get an up-close look at the Statue of Liberty as they disembark on Liberty Island where they’ll learn the history and stories about the national monument. The tour can be extended to include a self-guided visit to Ellis Island. The FREEDOM Comprehensive Tour is offered daily at 9am and lasts approximately 5½ to 6 hours.

NYCVP’s LIBERTY Tour provides visitors with a narrated, escorted and guided tour directly to the Statue of Liberty. Bypassing the often-lengthy ticket purchase line, participants have pre-reserved priority access to enter the Liberty Island Ferry security line. Disembarking the ferry on Liberty Island, the tour guide narrates the history and legends of Lady Liberty and points out photo spots. Through October 28, when the interior of the Statue is scheduled to be closed for renovations, participants will also receive a reserved Monument Access Pass allowing them entry inside the Statue and promenade for breathtaking views of the New York harbor and skyline. Following a self-guided visit to Ellis Island tour participants can enter the National 9/11 Memorial with a 1:15pm admission reservation. The LIBERTY Tour departs daily at 8am. A similar tour but without the entry to the National 9/11 Memorial, NYCVP’s Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Escorted Tour also operates daily at 8am.

New York City Vacation Packages (NYCVP) is the largest independent tour company in the USA devoted exclusively to leisure travel to New York City. NYCVP offers customized vacations including NYC accommodations, Broadway theater tickets, a full array of sightseeing options, dining, transportation, spectator sport admissions and exclusive holiday events. Personal Vacation Planners are available to help with vacation arrangements. Call 877 NYC-trip (877 692-8747) from the USA and Canada, or international 1 570 714-4692. The company’s website http://www.nyctrip.com features complete New York City travel information as well as NYC TripQuoteSM, an online vacation planning tool for checking prices and booking a customized New York City trip.

Go Ahead Tours Unveils New Tour of Puglia & Southern Italy

Go Ahead Tours Unveils New Tour of Puglia & Southern Italy

Matera, Italy

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) August 09, 2011

Go Ahead Tours is proud to announce a 12-day tour of Puglia, a little-known travel destination located on the heel of Italy’s boot. Puglia has long been a favorite getaway for European vacationers, but the region has historically escaped the notice of American travelers. Travelers can depart for a tour of Puglia & Southern Italy as early as March 2012. This tour also visits Naples and Sorrento, and travelers can add to their time on tour with our two-night extension in Rome.

Puglia & Southern Italy—12 days from $ 2,299 including airfare

Located on the Adriatic Sea, Puglia’s white sand beaches offer unblemished Mediterranean seascapes, but without the crowds typical of the French and Italian Rivieras. Sightseeing highlights of this tour include the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Castel del Monte and the Basilica of St. Nicholas in Bari. Puglia is also notable for its architecturally distinct dwelling, including the 9,000-year-old stone homes of Matera and the rustic trulli of Alberobello, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

For those who travel to Italy in search of fine food and wine, Puglia’s rich coastline offers a wide variety of fresh seafood including oysters and mussels, and the region has historically served as Italy’s breadbasket. More olive oil is produced here than anywhere else in Italy, most restaurants offer their own time-honored take on orecchiete con le cime di rapa, (orecchiete with broccoli rabe, Puglia’s favorite pasta) and deep-fried, custard-filled zeppole serve as the region’s signature dessert. Travelers on this tour will enjoy five included traditional dinners featuring regional delicacies

“Puglia’s beautiful coastline, historic towns and abundant, flavorful cuisine made it a great fit alongside our other tours of Italy,” said Christy Waller, Go Ahead’s Vice President of Marketing & Analysis. “More than the sites and the food, though, Puglia’s tourist economy isn’t quite as built up as in other parts of Italy, which will allow our travelers to connect with the locals and see Puglia through their eyes. We’re always on the lookout for secluded destinations, and we think our travelers will enjoy discovering a side of Italy they may not have experienced before.”

Company first to offer guided Segway ® tours of San Francisco

Company first to offer guided Segway ® tours of San Francisco

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 19, 2004

San Francisco Electric Tour Company is the first and only company to offer guided tours of the San Francisco waterfront on the world’s first and only self-balancing electric transport mechanism, the Segway.

Combining the unique transport qualities of the Segway with the beauty of San Francisco, these tours provide an entirely new way to experience the city by the bay. San Francisco Electric Tour Company pioneered the tour in San Francisco and is the only company offering it in the city.

“A city as unique as San Francisco demands a one-of-a-kind way to tour it,” explained founder Brian Huber. “Segways are an incredibly innovative way to appreciate Fisherman’s Wharf and the waterfront. They’re fun, they’re safe, and ideal for families looking for new touring experiences.”

First introduced in 2003, the Segway ® is an electric transport mechanism that is guided by the rider’s natural motions for forward and backward maneuvering. It easily navigates most walkable areas, including paved surfaces, dirt roads, grass, and inclines.

“After a 20 to 30 minute training on how to safely operate the Segway, riders explore the San Francisco waterfront for a full two and a half to three hours,” Huber said. “The Segway expands the amount of ground a person covers from a few blocks to six miles.”

Tours begin at Fisherman’s Wharf and cover the Cable Car turnaround, Ghirardelli Square, National Maritime Museum and the historic sailing ships, Fort Mason (former military base, now a historic landmark), Marina Green, Palace of Fine Arts (once the site of the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition). Tours include views of Alcatraz and a WWII submarine at Pier 45. Refreshment breaks and photo stops are included.

Guided tours depart daily at 9:15 am, 1:15 pm, and 4:00 pm (4:00 pm departure available from April – October only) from Fisherman’s Wharf. Fees are $ 65.00 per person (includes helmet and training) and reservations are required. Riders must be between 12 and 65 years of age; people under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tours are limited to ten riders. Riders must be over 100 pounds and less than 250 pounds. Other custom tours are available for corporate and private groups. HawaiiTours.com Adds New Adventurous Tours to Their Website

HawaiiTours.com Adds New Adventurous Tours to Their Website

Honolulu, HI (Vocus) September 1, 2009

Hawaii Tours (https://hawaiitours.com/), an online booking agency for tours in Hawaii, announces the addition of new tours for the adventurous traveler.

While Hawaii remains one of the top destination in the world to go relax on the beach, over the last year Hawaii Tours’ employees have seen an incline in the number of requests for adventurous activities in Hawaii. Some requested activities include hiking tours, zipline tours, and even shark tours. Hawaii Tours’ employees say they aren’t sure why the demand for these types of activities has increased, but they suspect it is a result of younger visitors wanting more excitement out of their vacation.

The Mona Waterfall Hiking Adventure is one of the hiking tours added. This four hour trip takes vacationers in the rainforest to see the one of the tallest waterfalls in Oahu. Giant ferns, beautiful water falls, and Hawaiian plant and animal life are the highlights of the hike. This tour is great for active people who want to get a little exercise on their vacation.

For those who don’t want to stay on the ground, Hawaii Tours now has four different zipline tours to choose from. Guests soar above the tropical rainforest on a number of different ziplines on Kauai and the Big Island. These tours have become some of the most popular adventure tours in Hawaii.

For those who don’t want to stay on or above ground, Hawaii Tours offers a tour that takes visitors to swim with sharks. This activity demands a little more courage than the previous two. Guests are lowered into the ocean water in a shark cage, where they snorkel with the ocean’s most feared predators. Hawaii shark tours have to rank as the most adventurous tours in Oahu.

About Hawaii Tours

Hawaii Tours is an online booking agency for over 150 tours throughout the Hawaii Islands. Hawaii Tours provides detailed descriptions of each tour, secure online payment methods, and a call center with trained professional.
